Youth Drive Astec Forward – Astec Expands Apprenticeship Scheme

We have expanded our apprenticeship programme with the appointment of three technical apprentices, to work within technical support and digital marketing.

Phil Astell, managing director, Astec Computing stated, “We believe that the apprentice programme is a highly effective path for motivated young people to get into the IT profession.

Astec has championed technical apprentices over the past four years and has guided numerous young people to successful careers in the IT industry. As a Microsoft Silver Partner, the two IT Technical Support apprentices are enrolled in the Microsoft Apprenticeship Programme, which is a 12-month ‘on the job’ and classroom scheme to ensure that the apprentices develop the skills required to succeed in a real world environment.

With the growing requirements of web based interaction, the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship is another key role within our organisation. Astec is in partnership with ITSkillsman to provide the classroom resource for this role, which will develop the apprentice’s capabilities to plan, develop and implement customer engagement programmes.

Once successfully completed, the apprentices will have achieved an industry recognised certification and gained the technical ability and practical confidence required to undertake their chosen roles.

Phil Astell, continued, “This is a key part of our development strategy, to bring on board bright young people and provide the training and mentoring that helps them reach their potential. Technology is a major growth industry offering incredible opportunities and apprenticeship programmes, like ours, are helping businesses and individuals grow together”.
