Support Stars Glide Through Milestone Qualification

Two of our Technical Apprentices were rewarded for their dedication to networking theory and practice when they received their Microsoft Technical Associate Networking Fundamentals certificates in May.

After six-months of study, with guidance from a Microsoft assessor, as well as hands on practical involvement from senior Astec support staff, Jake Taylor and Louie Sellens sat the exam at Pearson Vue Assessment Centre, one of Microsoft’s program partners.

Jake Taylor commented, “The Microsoft program is very thorough. Our course work ensures we have to complete written and practical examples which demonstrate our understanding of the subject material. Also as we have a high level of customer interaction we have benefitted from lots of additional support on how to handle our customers appropriately. The exam provided a focused opportunity to demonstrate that we understood the principles and technical processes required to design, install and support network infrastructure.”

Louie Sellens stated, “The support of the Astec team over the past six-months has really helped my understanding of the technical aspects of networking and has really helped improve my confidence when handling technical support issues on a one to one basis”

Stephen commented further, “I was great to see the guys achieving above average scores in their exams which really illustrated the meticulous training both Microsoft and Astec provide. We are all very proud of our apprentices and what they have achieved already. Microsoft sets the bar pretty high in these examinations, so the guys have demonstrated their commitment to really understanding their roles.”

This exam is part of the continuous skills assessment that leads to on to the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate qualification, which is the goal for Astec’s Level 3 apprentices.
