Eager Young Minds

We at Astec believe that there are a tremendous number of talented young people living in our area who are leaving school or college after their ‘A’ levels, many still don’t know what pathway to take to a career.

As a Microsoft Silver Partner, one of the ways we offer opportunities for motivated, bright young people is through the Microsoft Apprenticeship programme. This is often the first step into a highly successful career in IT.apprenticeship
The apprenticeships provide training of the right skills in a real world environment. The programme offers a mix of distance learning and on the job supervision to acquire a professional level understanding of the most in-demand ICT expertise. The Apprenticeship pathway leads to a number of Microsoft approved qualifications, recognised across the IT industry.

We are starting a search for a motivated and methodical college leaver who is interested in gaining professional training and an industry acknowledged qualification.  Over the course of the first year’s employment, our apprentice will work towards gaining a qualification as a Microsoft Desktop Support Engineer.  After that there are a variety of more advanced qualifications that we would encourage our apprentice to progress on to.

Astec has a real pedigree in developing people to achieve their potential, a previous apprentice, James Copper was shortlisted for the Microsoft Apprentice of the Year Award. James attended the ceremony in the House of Commons, together with Phil Astell, managing director of Astec and Amber Rudd MP.

Phil Astell, managing director, Astec Computing commented, “Mentoring and supporting staff to gain professional skills fosters a highly loyal and motivated team.  This can only be a positive outcome for us and our customers.”
